About
Eleonora Bendi is an Italian documentary and architecture photographer, living and working between Hamburg and Venice.
She holds a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary & Photojournalism, developed in partnership with Magnum Photos at Spéos Photographic Institute in Paris, and she furthered her practice at Ostkreuzschule in Berlin, where she attended the Intimate Portrait seminar.
Her work is grounded in long-term, research-based projects that examine the relationship between landscape, urban development, and human experience. Drawing on an academic background in biology from La Sapienza University in Rome, she approaches photography with a particular sensitivity to environmental transformation and its psychological impact. Her projects often focus on industrial and transitional areas, investigating how ecological, social, and mental health issues intersect within built environments.
Alongside her artistic practice, she undertakes commissioned work for the press, architecture studios, and cultural institutions. Since 2004, she has worked as a freelance photographer, developing a practice that moves between documentary storytelling and architectural observation.
